The Foreknowledge of Jesus in the Mo(u)rning

in the morning you rose
knowing what waited for you in the garden
a not-so-faint allusion to the first one
after all, its the reason why you were here


you knew of the betrayal and the loss
friends denying and running in sync with your capture
alone you would be, to face the horrors before you


you knew of the suffering and of the death
accusing only you, the only one who is innocent
torturing and beating and nailing


yet you followed abba all the same
submitting, obedient, faithful
giving your life for the ungrateful
bearing on you the curse, the sin, and the shame

The Interlude of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil Between Genesis Chapters Two & Three

o' for the tree that wrought mankind's defeat

with knowledge the fruit so sweet did bear

soon eve, succumbing to the serpent's deceit

while adam in his silence stands there

planted with the Lord's perfect care

the tree in the garden purposefully tended

with clothes of choice the leaves did wear

the fate of all the world amended

it's roots sink deep into the soil

where God has tilled, man would toil

the peace of shalom, soon to be spoiled

the serpent's footsteps resound in the forest
